PUBLISHED: Dec 26, 2024

Last week, HODINKEE Japan celebrated its 5th anniversary of HODINKEE Japan with a special event, HJP5, at the same TRUNK(HOTEL) CAT STREET location in Shibuya, Tokyo, where the brand launched five years ago. This milestone was made possible by readers, partners, and everyone involved, and the evening was dedicated to expressing gratitude and embarking on the next chapter.

Around 200 attendees, including long-time supporters, readers, and brand representatives, joined the celebration. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed by bonsai artistry from TRADMAN’S BONSAI, led by renowned producer Kojima Teppei. Inside, a mid-century-inspired space echoed HODINKEE’s headquarters, where guests could browse past issues of HODINKEE Magazine Japan Edition and reflect on its storied journey.

The highlight of the evening was the talk show, divided into three sessions. The first featured a conversation between actor Shosuke Tanihara, a known watch enthusiast, and HODINKEE Japan’s Editor-in-Chief Masaru Sekiguchi. Tanihara shared his passion and favorite watches. The second session included discussions with Grand Seiko’s planning manager Kohei Egashira, new HODINKEE Editor-in-Chief James Stacey, and editor Masaharu Wada on Grand Seiko’s global appreciation. The final session saw Editor Sekiguchi in dialogue with G-SHOCK creator Kikuo Ibe, revealing development stories and future vision for the brand.

The event lasted about two and a half hours, with a cozy atmosphere throughout, as guests enjoyed Bollinger champagne and finger foods. This celebration was possible thanks to the support from dedicated readers and partners. See the complete event recap here.

HODINKEE Japan is committed to embracing new challenges and being an enduring presence for watch lovers over the next decade.
