As a forward-looking platform, ELLE DECOR will continue to evolve and innovate.

Commenting on the appointment, Kanako Sakai, Editor-in-Chief of the ELLE & Harper’s BAZAAR Group, stated:

“We are pleased to welcome Maki Hashida as Editor-in-Chief of ELLE DECOR. Having grown up in an environment where she could be exposed to the essence of architecture and design, and having felt the beauty of nature and space firsthand since childhood, her background forms the foundation of her firm aesthetic sense. The modern sensibility cultivated on the front lines of international media and the specialized knowledge built up on both the print and digital fronts will merge, and ELLE DECOR will evolve into a presence that provides deeper and newer inspiration to today’s readers who view living spaces as a place for self-expression. Please look forward to the further leap forward of ELLE DECOR under this new system.”

Maki Hashida expressed her gratitude and honor in assuming the role, while sharing her perspective on the evolving role of design and media in today’s rapidly changing landscape, emphasizing the importance of redefining how we live and engage with our environments:

“I want to combine this uniquely Japanese creativity with ELLE DECOR‘s global perspective, and use it to uncover the hidden value in everyday life with a broad viewpoint. I believe my role going forward is to leverage my experience working with diverse genres, reconstruct them from a new perspective while traversing them, and connect them to compelling content. With this approach as my foundation, I will further evolve ELLE DECOR into a media outlet full of discovery and exhilaration.”
