The inaugural "Summer Essentials" edition spotlights 10 editor-approved products that combine craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design.

Hearst Fujingaho has announced the launch of Esquire Essentials 2026, a new editorial awards program from Esquire Japan recognizing products that exemplify exceptional design, functionality, and enduring value for today’s discerning consumer. The first installment, Summer Essentials, debuted digitally on June 30.

Inspired by successful initiatives from Esquire in both the U.S. and the Philippines, the Japanese edition has adapted the concept for its local audience, selecting products that enrich everyday life through thoughtful design and real-world performance. Rather than highlighting fleeting trends, the program celebrates products that reflect Esquire‘s editorial philosophy of quality, craftsmanship, and purposeful living.

Curated by Editors, Built on Experience

Each product featured in Esquire Essentials has been personally tested and selected by the magazine’s editors, who combine hands-on experience with expert knowledge to recommend items they genuinely use in their professional and personal lives.

“The products we value most aren’t simply efficient or fashionable—they’re the ones that continue to feel meaningful over time,” said Tomoyuki Kondo, Editor-in-Chief of Esquire Japan. “Esquire Essentials is more than a guide to trends. It’s an editorial award recognizing products that our team confidently recommends as modern essentials—items that elevate everyday experiences through exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and lasting quality.”

Three Lifestyle Categories

The inaugural Summer Essentials collection features 10 editor-selected products across three lifestyle-focused categories:

  • Beauty & Grooming — Men’s skincare, grooming tools, and fragrance designed to help readers look and feel their best throughout the summer.
  • Gadget & Tech — Technology that prioritizes meaningful experiences alongside performance, from audio and mobile devices to productivity tools.
  • Lifestyle — Travel gear, interiors, beverages, hotels, and other products that inspire exploration, relaxation, and elevated everyday living.

A Multi-Platform Editorial Experience

Beyond in-depth editorial reviews on Esquire Digital, the project will be supported across Instagram, X, and other social platforms through immersive visual storytelling.

Esquire Essentials will be published twice annually, with Winter Essentials scheduled to launch in November, focusing on holiday gifting, home design, and year-end lifestyle recommendations.
